Dr. Kearney grew up as a Phoenician and is proud that he took full advantage of his tax dollars by attending Arizona State University for undergraduate and attending the University of Arizona for medical school. He is a card-carrying Sun Devil and as a walk-on member of the 1993-94 Men’s Basketball team - made famous by a point-shaving scandal – he claims to have had no involvement with the immoral and unscrupulous activities, wisely pointing out that "it’s impossible to shave points when all you did was sit on the bench." Dr. Kearney did his Residency training in Grand Junction, Colorado and further developed his Sports Medicine interests by completing a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While in Minnesota, Dr. Kearney had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Robert Johnson who was an original founder of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. Dr. Kearney has acted as the head team physician for 5 Universities and for the Minnesota State High School League. He also has medical experience at many mass participation sporting events and in working ski trauma. He brings this experience with him to the residency in teaching musculoskeletal pathology and medical conditions unique to the athlete and active individuals. Dr. Kearney feels blessed to be married to his wonderful wife and to have 2 precious boys – Luke and Finn. He enjoys wakeboarding on the beautiful Arizona lakes, picking on Residents, sand volleyball, mountain biking, snowboarding, golf, and anything outdoors. |
