Purna was born and raised in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. He arrived at United States of America in 2004 after serving the unprivileged local and refugee population in Nepal for 14 years. He met his wife, Bidhya while he was practicing medicine in rural Dagana. Purna has 2 children - Diksha 17 and Divyash 13. He loves spending time with his kids.
Besides his medical interest, he is also a human rights activist.
