Phoenix
Baptist Hospital & Medical Center is an innovative acute-care hospital
located in North Central Phoenix. Founded in the heart of the Valley of the
Sun in 1963, PBH has been an active partner in the growth and development of
the communities in which it cares. It offers a wide-variety of advanced medical
services to meet the needs of the individuals and communities it has been proud
to serve every day for nearly four decades.
Today, Phoenix Baptist Hospital & Medical Center is a 216-bed, non-denominational,
acute-care, community teaching hospital and part of the second largest health
system in Arizona. The Staff of health care professionals and more than 750

health care services in an environment focused on personal care, compassion
and respect.
Your residency experience will include providing care to individuals and families
in our Family Medicine Center. The Center has 19 general examination rooms,
two procedures rooms, a laboratory and a counseling room. Since it is adjacent
to the hospital, hospitalized patients are easily accessible, as well as lab
facilities, radiology, physical therapy and occupational therapy. Consultative
services in nearly all sub-specialties are also readily available.
Affiliated Teaching Hospitals
Located
in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, St.
Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is a 570-bed, not-for-profit hospital
that provides a wide range of health, social and support services with special
advocacy for the poor and underserved. St. Joe’s is a nationally recognized
center for quality tertiary care, medical education and research. It includes
the internationally known Barrow Neurological Institute and the only Trauma
Center in the state of Arizona that is verified as a Level I Trauma Center by
the American College of Surgeons. The hospital is also a respected center for
pediatrics, maternity care, oncology, orthopedics, cardiology and many other
medical services. In 1999, U.S. News and World Report ranked St. Joe’s
among the best hospitals in several specialties—including the 8th best
hospital in the United States for neurology and neurosurgery. Founded in 1895
by the Sisters of Mercy, St. Joe’s was the first hospital in the Phoenix
area. The hospital is part of CHW Arizona, a division of Catholic Healthcare
West. With 48 hospitals in Arizona, California and Nevada, CHW is one of the
largest health systems in the West.
Maricopa
Medical Center is a full-service, 541-bed hospital that sees nearly 20,000
inpatient admissions every year. The hospital features advanced medical services
including burn care, pediatric and adult emergency care, and has been recognized
by U.S. News and World Report in its report on "America's Best Hospitals"
for excellence in respiratory disorders, urology, medical care, education and
research. It includes the Valley's only pediatric emergency department open
24 hours a day, every day, as well as one of three Level I Trauma Centers in
the Central Valley, the Arizona Burn Center, Arizona's only regional burn center,
and the Maricopa Psychiatric Center, a 92-bed behavioral health facility.
Phoenix
Children's Hospital is are an independent non-profit organization that provides
care to children in Arizona and the Southwest for the most critically ill and
routine hospitalizations. It was established in 1983 by a group of pediatricians
and community leaders who believed that a growing metropolitan area really needed
a children's hospital. Phoenix Children's Hospital is the only licensed pediatric
hospital in Arizona. In spring 2002, PCH moved into a new facility at 20th Street
and Thomas Road. When complete, Phoenix Children's Hospital will have 307 beds,
making it one of the largest freestanding comprehensive children's hospitals
in the country. The new campus consists of more than 20 acres, which allows
for a pediatric health care campus with sufficient space to meet the health
care needs of Arizona's children both now and well into the future.
The
Carl T. Hayden VA Medical
Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services. The Inpatient Facility
includes 237 beds, with an additional 104 beds in our Nursing Home Care Unit
and 40 beds for Mental Health Services. The entire building is undergoing a
renovation process, including the recent addition of a beautiful 76,650 square
foot ambulatory care facility on the premises.
